Go-To Gear

Today’s the final day of the Kid Tested, Mom Approved link up party. I can’t believe it’s already over!

Today’s theme is Go-To Gear. Having a baby means your life can get taken over by stuff! What gear is on your must-have list? Here is a look at three life saving products that have made my life so much easier!

IMG_4147I honestly don’t know how I went out in public without these two lifesaving products!
I love any organizational tool and these two are the best!

The first game changer is the Sugar Snap Files. It is the best diaper bag organizer I have found. My first diaper bag had built in pockets but I was forever losing EVERYTHING in that bag! When you have a crying or screaming child and only one hand free, you need organization!

The Sugar Snap Files have five different “file folders.” I get a chuckle every time I look in my bag and see the first one labeled “lotions and potions!”

The first “file folder” is Lotions +Potions where I keep all medicine and health products. The second “file folder” is Me+Mine where I keep mommy items like lip gloss and a brush. The third section is Shirts+Socks which fits a whole outfit, hat, socks, booties, baby brush and I’m sure a lot more if I needed it. The last pouch is Snacks+Supplies. Since Olivia is EBF, I keep my nursing poncho in the last pouch.

The best part of the system is when I want to use another bag, transferring everything over is a cinch! It even has a ring which all the file folders connect to so you can pick and choose which one you need or want to use. They can even be connected to things like a stroller handle if you don’t want a bulky diaper bag. They retail for $42.00 but I purchased mine through Zulily when they had them on sale for $24 bucks! I originally wanted the pink but it was sold out by the time I went to check out. I’m actually glad I went with the grey though because it is more neutral and the pattern is identical to my next life saver below. twoDDE800F9A2644A11B2719AD8B9F04546.ashxMy second game changer when it comes to my diaper bag is the JJ Cole diaper changing clutch. It is so easy to carry to the bathroom. Gone are the days of holding a changing pad, diaper and wipes all in one hand or bringing the whole diaper bag with you and having to set it on the nasty floor. IMG_4141
It has a pocket for diapers and holds a travel wipes case. I can easily fit four size 1 or 2 disposable diapers in the pocket. I received two bulk boxes of Huggies wipes that have resealable bags of wipes in them at my baby showers. I only had to buy one travel wipes case for $1.00 and then I just refill it when I am getting low.

three14707.1Yes, I have the king daddy Baby Trend Expedition ELX Travel System but I would not be able to get basic errands done without the Baby Trend Snap-N-Go Stroller. It is so light weight and easy to whip in and out of my Honda Civic’s trunk. Don’t get me wrong, I love my jogger with the big wheels that can go over ANY terrain, the shocks that keep my babies head from bouncing all over the place, and the amazing parent tray that has a built in MP3 speaker system. I just don’t need that big ‘ole thing everyday. I can barely fit the jogger in my little trunk because the front wheel is so big and sticks out. Though it does really come in handy when I am downtown walking Olivia around on Savannah’s notoriously uneven cobblestone streets. But when I am going to the store in town, all I really need is a lightweight frame that her car seat will sit in and a basket for my diaper bag. I can get this stroller unfolded with one hand and it is so light weight! It can even work with Chicco, Graco, Britax and many other carseats. I figure if I have another baby I can just get the Snap-N-Go Double Stroller. The single Snap-N-Go retails for $69 but I got mine off of Craigslist for only $20. Who cares if it is a later model as long as it fits my carseat and looked barely used!
